Mahant and Naga Sadhu Kanhaiya Das of the famous Hanuman Garhi temple was bludgeoned to death on April 3 at night by unidentified attackers. His body was found in the gaushala of the Charanpaduka temple. Kanhaiya Das was also the Mahant of Gulchaman Baag of Basantia Patti.
Shiv Giri, a Sadhu performing puja in a Hanuman Temple near the banks of river Yamuna, was hacked to death with an axe by an unidentified person. Shiv Giri was killed within the temple premises itself where he was residing.
