After Trudeau’s resignation, Donald Trump once again proposed merging Canada with the United States
Washington (US) – “The United States can no longer endure the trade deficit with Canada nor provide further subsidies. Canada desperately needs subsidies to sustain itself. Prime Minister Trudeau knew this, which is why he resigned. If Canada merges with the United States, there will be no tariffs, taxes will significantly reduce, and Canada will be entirely secure from threats posed by Russia and China.” This proposal was once again presented to Canada by Donald Trump, the newly elected US President (President-Elect), immediately after Trudeau’s resignation, sparking global discussions.

In November 2024, Trudeau had met Trump in Florida (US), during which Trump had proposed making Canada the 51st state of the US. Following this, Trump once referred to Trudeau as the “Governor of Canada” (in the US, a Governor is the head of a state) on social media.
