Issue of claiming Waqf Board’s ownership of Maha Kumbha site
Prayagraj – Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has filed a complaint against Maulana Shahabuddin at the Civil Lines Police Station here for stating that the land for the Maha Kumbha here belongs to the Waqf Board. The complaint has demanded that a case be registered against the maulana for creating religious rift. VHP’s Legal Convenor and Allahabad High Court’s Advocate Arvind Kumar Bhardwaj filed this complaint. On this occasion, Brijesh Om Prakash Singh, Akhilesh Shukla, Vinay Pandey, Pratap Singh, Jayraj Singh Tomar, Amresh Tiwari, Virendra Singh Rajbhar, Shiv Gopal Singh, Ram Aadhar, Jitendra Pal Singh Jadoun, D Tripathi, Rajan Sharma, etc. were present.
The complaint further states that the Kumbha Mela has been held on the holy land of Prayagraj since time immemorial. During the reign of Chandragupta Maurya, some foreign travellers have mentioned in their books that the Kumbha Mela was being held in Prayagraj. In such a situation, the statement of the maulana is creating religious rifts and inciting conflict in the society. His baseless statement is an attempt to tarnish the image of Hindu Dharma.
