Open urinals causing inconvenience
Prayagraj, 8 January – The Prayagraj Mela Authority has arranged for urinals across the Kumbha Mela area for devotees. However, hundreds of these urinals are open and lack privacy, forcing men to relieve themselves in full view of others. This situation is unbecoming of a religious event like the Kumbha Mela.
These urinals are located in busy areas of the Mahakumbha Mela, with roads and shops nearby, leading to constant crowds of devotees. It is expected that at least a curtain or partition should be installed for privacy. During the 2024 Magha Kumbha Mela, the administration had covered the urinals with fabric for privacy. However, such arrangements are missing this time, leading to scenes of people relieving themselves openly amidst dense crowds.
The administration must urgently arrange for adequate privacy around these urinals to maintain dignity at this religious event.
