The PIL was filed by Rajesh Dhanda, a businessman from Ludhiana, Punjab. The petition mentioned that the condition of minorities (Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, and others) in Bangladesh is extremely dire.
Dr Jaishankar stated further that two main issues are arising in the relations between the two countries. One of which is attacks on minorities in Bangladesh which is a matter of grave concern for India.

The instability in Bangladesh is not only affecting the Hindu population there but also posing a security risk to India. In such a situation, India’s inaction remains incomprehensible !
India desires a positive, constructive, and mutually beneficial relationship with Bangladesh, which has been reiterated several times in recent high-level meetings.
Jaishankar said, When migrants are sent back by plane, they are shackled. However, according to the information provided by ICE, no restraints are placed on women and children. Additionally, food and other necessities are provided for the comfort of those being sent back.
