Hubballi (Karnataka) – Neha Hiremath was recently stabbed to death by a religious fanatic identified as Faiyaz Khondunaik after she rejected his marriage proposal. Neha’s father Niranjan Hiremath is a Congress leader and corporator. The political environment in Karnataka has heated up following this incident and the issue of Love Jihad is being opposed by Hindus. Hiremath told the media, ‘Such incidents are on the rise at a fast pace. Youngsters are taking the wrong path. This should not happen to anyone. I think Love Jihad is spreading fast. Mothers and sisters need to be careful when they step out of the house’. Although Niranjan Hiremath has termed this incident as a case of Love Jihad, senior Congress leader and State’s Home Minister G Parameshwara has said that this is not a case of Love Jihad.
