Mumbai – Actress Zeenat Aman recently made a statement addressing the youth of the country about having a live-in relationship before marriage. ‘It gives an opportunity to test the relationship’, she said. Responding to this statement, actress Mumtaz said that living together before marriage can cause a rift in the relationship.
Mumtaz said,
1. I don’t agree with Zeenat’s live-in advice. No matter how many live-in relationships you’ve been in, is marriage guaranteed to be successful after months of being together ? What is the need to tie yourself down in this day and age ? Why marry ? For children ? Instead, go out there, find the man who appeals to you, and get his baby without physical intimacy. Society has evolved. Raise your daughters to believe that ‘they don’t need a man to be complete’. I have been married for more than forty years. Marriage needs maintenance. It is not easy.
2. Zeenat should be careful with what she is advising. She has all of a sudden come into this huge social media popularity. If live-in relationships become a norm, they might make the idea of marriage redundant and irrelevant. Tell me honestly, would you marry your son to a girl whom you know to have been in a live-in relationship ? Take Zeenat for example. She knew Mazhar Khan for years before marrying him. Her marriage was a living hell. She should be the last person doling out advice on relationships.
