Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) – ‘Kerala Catholic Youth Movement’, a Christian youth organization in Kerala is going to screen the movie ‘The Kerala Story’ at various places in the State. This decision has been taken by this organisation in support of the Idukki church administration. Earlier, the film showing the horrors of ‘Love Jihad’ and Islamic State was shown to children by the Idukki and Thamarasseri Church Administrations.
Pastor George Vellackakudiyil, director of Kerala Catholic Youth Movement said, “We have made this announcement because the Idukki Church Administration was harassed by the media and others after the screening of ‘The Kerala Story’.” Movie to be screened for ‘educational purposes as a form of warning to children about some of the dangers out there and to be cautious when they fall in love’. We are concerned that girls are being asked to convert for marriage and then their parents are not even allowed to meet them.
Thamarasseri region president of the youth organisation Richard John said that, ‘The Kerala Story’ will be screened once again in Idukki and we have the support of senior church officials. Our organisation is also working in the cities of Malappuram and Kozhikode. Our department has uncovered 325 cases of conversion. These numbers underscore the seriousness of the problem. There is no political motive behind showing this film.
Akhil C Jose, another office bearer of the organisation said, “When the Idukki Church Administration’s decision to screen the film was criticized, we decided to air it in opposition. He said that he is showing this film to save children from the dangers of love”.
