Leh (Ladakh) – Social activist Sonam Wangchuk had organised a “Pashmina March” (protest) in the vicinity of the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Leh on 7th April to bring the real situation in Ladakh, which China has invaded, and environmentally sensitive areas to the forefront. Thousands of people were expected to participate in this, and a lockdown was imposed in Leh in anticipation of this. Additionally, an order was issued to shut down the internet there. Wangchuk said that China has captured about 4,000 square kilometers of Indian territory here. People participating in the Pashmina March would be aware of where the captured land was previously and where it is now. This was to be revealed.
(Illegally occupied territory)
Previously, Wangchuk had undertaken a 21-day hunger strike to demand full statehood and rights for Ladakh. Ladakh is now designated as a union territory.
