Why the Taliban Government does not enforce similar punishments for men ?
(Adultery means engaging in physical relations with a person other than one’s spouse)
Kabul (Afghanistan) – Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the supreme leader of the Taliban Government in Afghanistan, has decreed that any woman convicted of adultery will be subjected to death by stoning. We are committed to reinstating Sharia law in Afghanistan,” he declared.
What is the Sharia law ?
Sharia law, also known as the Islamic law, is a legal framework derived from the Quran, the Hadith (sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad), and interpretations by Islamic scholars. It covers various aspects of life, including religious rituals, family matters, finance, business, and criminal justice. In Sharia law, there are rules and guidelines governing personal conduct, family relationships, business transactions, and criminal offenses. Some of the major crimes under Sharia law include adultery, theft, murder, and consumption of intoxicants (such as alcohol or drugs). Punishments for these offenses may include fines, imprisonment, corporal punishment (such as flogging), or in severe cases, capital punishment (such as stoning or execution).
Taliban Government imposes severe restrictions on Afghani women
Despite their initial promise to respect women’s rights upon coming to power, Taliban have implemented bans on secondary and higher secondary education for girls, suspended university education for women, and removed women from numerous job positions, often replacing them with male family members. Additionally, activities such as visiting beauty parlours and participating in sports have been prohibited. (Why the women’s organisations worldwide are silent on this ? Why the admirers of Islam silent on this ? – Editor).
