Beijing (China) – China has claimed Arunachal Pradesh as its territory once again. India has strongly refuted this claim. China reiterated its claim on Arunachal Pradesh due to a statement made by India’s External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar during his Singapore visit.
Responding to a question about Arunachal Pradesh, Dr Jaishankar had stated that this is not a new development. China has made a claim, and it is sticking to it. These claims are baseless and futile. We are very clear on this, and our stance remains consistent.
In response to this, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated that India and China have never agreed on the border issue. In 1987, India unilaterally declared a region as ‘so-called’ Arunachal Pradesh after illegal occupying it.
Editorial Perspective
Despite India’s repeated clarifications regarding Arunachal Pradesh, China continues to make claims on the region. It is imperative for India to convey this to China in an appropriate language. |
