New Delhi – “If a family’s bank account is frozen, then the family will face several problems, they will have to starve. That is being done with the Congress party. Our party’s bank accounts were frozen a month ago, but neither the Courts nor the Election Commission of this country are speaking about it. Everyone is silently watching this drama. We are representing 20% people of this country. We cannot even buy train tickets today. We cannot send our leaders from one city to another to campaign. We cannot advertise. Today, we don’t even have Rs 2”, claimed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in a press conference. The Income Tax Department has frozen Congress party’s bank accounts last month. Congress held this press conference against that decision. Congress leader Sonia Gandhi was also present on this occasion.

There is no democracy in India today !

Rahul Gandhi added, “7 years ago there was some problem in paying taxes worth Rs 14 lakhs. Our bank accounts containing Rs 200 crores were frozen over that matter. As per the provisions of the Income Tax Act, such delay in payment of tax may attract a penalty not exceeding Rs 10,000; but still, forceful and criminal action is being taken against us. The Prime Minister of India is criminally taking away our constitutional rights. My appeal to Indian autonomous bodies is to do something about this. The idea that India is a democracy is a lie. There is no democracy in India today.”

Editorial Perspective

It has been a month since the bank accounts were frozen. During this period, Congress has spent lakhs of rupees on party’s events, Bharat Nyay Yatra etc. Rahul Gandhi should explain the source of this money first.
