Sixty Hindu families from Joshi Vihar in Haldwani (Uttarakhand) migrate due to Muslims

There are now 150 Muslim families in Joshi Vihar

Haldwani (Uttarakhand) – In the Banbhoolpura area here, a few days ago, religious fanatic Muslims resorted to violence following the demolition of an unauthorised madarasa. Adding to the complexity of the situation, there has been a noticeable influx of Muslims from Uttar Pradesh into Joshi Vihar. Disturbingly, reports indicate that over the past 6 years, 60 Hindu families have migrated from Joshi Vihar. Presently, only 3 Hindu families remain, and regrettably, they too are preparing to relocate within the next month. The demographic shift is stark, with 150 Muslim families now living in Joshi Vihar. They have all the documents including the Aadhaar card and land records.

1. Devendra Joshi, a resident here, recounted how his grandfather originally purchased land here, with subsequent Hindu families settling in. Generously, his grandfather provided land at affordable rates to those in need. However, as time passed, people began selling their allotted land to outsiders. Tragically, some Hindus were coerced into selling their land at significantly undervalued prices by Muslim settlers. A person named Malik who came from Rampur bought the house first. Later, the extent of Muslim settlement increased.

2. The migration of people from this area can be attributed to two primary factors. Firstly, some succumbed to greed and willingly sold their lands. Secondly, others were compelled to sell their land. People who bought land here for Rs 1 lakh, later sold it for Rs 1 crore. Due to the deteriorating sanitation conditions and increasing Muslim population, most of the Hindus sold their land and left. Manoj Mathpal, a former village head affiliated with the BJP, reports that land prices have escalated to Rs 4,500 per square foot.

1. If the population has changed, it will be indicated. Will talk to people about why they left from here – Paritosh Verma, Deputy Collector

2. Our responsibility is to verify people. This task is going on in the entire District. Inspection is done from time to time. People staying in Joshi Vihar will be verified – Prahlad Narayan Meena, Special Superintendent of Police

Editorial Perspective

When a Muslim comes to a Hindu neighbourhood, he gradually brings other Muslims also to join him. Once their number is gradually increased using this tactic, it is seen all over the country that Hindus shift from there due to issues like beef consumption, uncleanliness, and stench.
