Dehradun (Uttarakhand) – Fanatic Muslims had rioted in Banbhoolpura area of Haldwani in the State on 8th February. The Police were attacked by enraged religious fanatics after the local administration bulldozed an illegal mosque and madarasa there. They also stole the Police weapons. In this attack, 6 people including 5 rioters were killed, while more than 300 were injured. After this, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that a Police station would be built where the illegal mosque was standing. His orders have been implemented within 24 hrs and a Police station has been set up. The Police station was inaugurated by two Policewomen who were injured in the riot. 24 hours Police presence will be maintained at this place now. Nainital’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prahlad Narayan Meena gave information about this. The responsibility of this Police station is with the Head Constable and 4 constables and peon have been deployed along with him.
