Indian Government will provide all possible assistance for Priya’s release

Sanaa (Yemen) – Yemeni President Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi has approved the death sentence given to a nurse from Kerala for killing her husband. After this, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs recently said that the Indian Government will provide all possible assistance to Nimisha Priya in this case.

Nimisha Priya was sentenced to death in the year 2017 in the case of the murder of her husband Talal Abdo Mahdi. Priya’s husband used to abuse and torture her. It is said that she killed Mahdi to avenge the torture he had inflicted on her. Nimisha Priya had given him a numbing medicine to get back her passport, which was in his possession.

The death penalty might be carried out within a month after the Yemeni president’s consent. The Indian embassy had appointed a lawyer to fight for Nimisha Priya. Priya’s mother has gone to Yemen to negotiate the amount that is necessary to be given to her husband’s family.
