Maulana of ‘Halal Council of India’ issuing Halal Certificates arrested

Accusation of only extorting money from establishments in the name of certification, and also no quality control over the production of food products

Lucknow/Laxmanpuri (Uttar Pradesh) – The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) has arrested four office-bearers of the Halal Council of India, Mumbai, for extorting money in the name of Halal Certification. The four individuals arrested on 12th February have been identified as Maulana Mudassir, Habib Yusuf Patel, Anwar Khan and Mohammed Tahir, as per the UP STF sources. Notably, the Uttar Pradesh Government has banned the manufacture, sale, storage and distribution of halal-certified products in the State.

1. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself had announced in November 2023 that no goods with Halal Certificate can be made or sold in Uttar Pradesh, except for goods made to export abroad. Along with this, the Government had made a provision to jail people who sell goods with Halal certificate in Uttar Pradesh.

2. A team of STF led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar Singh recovered 4 Aadhaar cards, 4 PAN cards, 3 mobile phones, 4 ATM Cards from the accused. Rs 21,820 cash, 3 vehicle licenses and some other important documents were also seized.

3. These accused have no right to issue Halal Certificate, yet they were issuing this certificate by taking ten thousand rupees from the establishments. The Police are investigating further in this matter.

What is Halal Certification ?

According to Islam, halal means valid ! Previously the halal certificate was limited to meat only, but now that religious fanatics want to build their independent economy, many things like housing, medicine, cosmetics, etc. are given halal certificates. In short, it is a certificate to the effect that ‘a certain facility or thing is certified according to Islam’. Globally, various international lobbying groups of religious fanatics are pressuring establishments to get these certificates. Large establishments are also falling victim to this as pressure is being exerted on Muslim consumers to say that halal is mandatory. Some Islamic organisations are working for this conspiracy. The certificate they have approved is called a halal certificate. This is a plot hatched by fanatics through a halal certificate to build a parallel Islamic economy in the country and undermine the prevailing economy.

Editorial Perspective

‘Halal Council of India’ is one of the major organisations that issues Halal Certification. Hindus feel that if other big organisations like Halal Indian, Halal Certification Services India, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind Halal Trust, Jamiat Ulema-e-Maharashtra in the State are operating, Uttar Pradesh Police should take action against them too !
