New Pune CP conducts identity parade of hundreds of criminals

Pune – Amitesh Kumar has taken charge as the new Commissioner of Police (CP) of Pune city. As a preventive measure, to curb the rising crime in Pune, he had summoned the leaders of the criminal gangs and other goons of the city and surrounding areas. An estimated 250 to 300 criminals gathered at the premises of the Police Commissioner. An identity parade of these criminals was held. The Police officers themselves warned all the criminals that if any crime happened within the city, action would be taken against them. The leaders and other criminals were present in the premises of the Police Commissionerate for a long duration. The notorious goons of Pune, such as Gajanan Marne, Nilesh Ghaywal, Baba Bodke and others were present. At this time, the Police made them write an affidavit saying that they would not commit any crime or participate in it in future. (Can it ever happen that by doing this, criminals will not commit crimes ? Will anyone believe in such a behaviour of criminals ? If this were possible, India would have been crime-free by now – Editor).

Editorial Perspective

If the Police know the information of criminals, why don’t they eliminate their gangs ?
