Karwar (Karnataka) – The ‘Savarkar news’ nameplate and a saffron flag located on the seashore in Tengingundi village of Bhatkal Taluk were removed by the panchayat development officers. The villagers have expressed outrage over this. A protest has been initiated by the villagers under the leadership of BJP leader and gram panchayat members Govind Naik and Subraya Devadiga. The Government had granted permission to install the nameplate. The gram panchayat suddenly removed both using a JCB machine.
While questioning the panchayat development officers, Govind Naik asked, “Who owns this property that the flag and the nameplate were removed ? Were they removed as this is Pakistan ? Hindus will not remain silent. Is there any pressure on you ?” Naik admonished them saying, “This is Bhatkal. Don’t become puppets in someone’s hands.”
