
Dehradun (Uttarakhand) – The State Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that the committee, formed to draft the Bill of Uniform Civil Code (UCC), would submit the draft to the State Government on 2nd February 2024 and then, it will be tabled in the upcoming State Assembly Session.
CM Dhami further said that his Government had always been committed to implementing UCC in line with PM Modi’s vision of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’. His Government will try to bring in UCC, considering local people’s resolve and aspirations.
The tenure of the experts’ committee set up to work out the implementation of UCC has been extended for the fourth time. The committee is headed by retired Supreme Court Judge Ranjana Prakash Desai, and its tenure was extended three times earlier.
