Religious fanatics threaten Hindus in Parel and Santacruz (Mumbai)

Mumbai – On 22nd January, when all the colonies were celebrating Shriramlalla’s prana-pratishtha, Tarun Mitra Mandal organised the distribution of laddu as prasad and the installation of flags featuring the name and picture of Deity Shriram at Siddhi Ahmed CHS in Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marg area of Parel. Mufiz Raees Ahmed and two other residents of the society took out saffron flags and got into a fight. The accused were then taken into custody following a complaint filed at the Bhoiwada Police Station for removing the flags, inciting enmity and acting prejudicial to the maintenance of harmony.

At Golibar Nagar in Santacruz, a pooja was held at the Pimpleshwar temple on 22nd January. Saud Muhammad Qureshi lit up a cigarette and began to vent smoke into the temple. When Hindus objected, he threatened to ‘make them disappear like the saffron flags in Mira Road’. Qureshi was also arrested after registering the crimes of threatening and inciting religious sentiments against him.
