Islamabad (Pakistan) – India’s Union Minister Smriti Irani visited Saudi Arabia. During the visit, she also visited Medina, the holy city of Muslims. Women have to wear a hijab to cover their heads while going to Medina as per Islam and as per the rules in Saudi Arabia. Women going to Medina without hijab are punished. Smriti Irani wore a sari and did not use a hijab when she visited Medina. Saudi Government did not raise objection to the same, but Pakistan is upset with the incident and has criticised Saudi Arabia.

1.Pakistani citizens have criticised Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman that he is only after money, and he has converted holy places like the mosques and the tombs into tourist centres. Money is everything to him. He should realise that Muslims all over the world are connected to his country out of faith.
2.On the other hand, a few Pakistani citizens have praised India’s progress, comparing their country with India. They have said that the world is changing. Saudi Arabia is thinking of only its advantages. India is a big market; therefore, cannot be ignored. Saudi Arabia is trying to shed old traditions, thinking of improving its economy. Smriti Irani’s visit should be viewed from this point of view.
3.A Pakistani citizen commented that it was better to look at oneself than find fault with others. India has created a niche for itself. Temples are built in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Their kings are visiting India. Every country is working for its advantage. China is also trying to be close to India to further its trade. Nobody wants to lose a good market like India.
