Khan’s statement comes in the backdrop of Bangladesh General elections to be held on 7th January

New Delhi – “Anti-India groups were encouraged during the rule of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh. Action was taken against such groups after our party (Awami League) came to power. Anti-India activities will not be tolerated in our country as long as we are in power”, stated Home Minister of Bangladesh Asaduzzaman Khan. He was speaking in a telephone interview with the Press Trust of India. This interview was conducted in the backdrop of Bangladesh General elections to be held on 7th January.
1. Asaduzzaman Khan further said that Bangladesh has a special relationship with India because India played an important role in the independence of Bangladesh. The relationship between the two countries will become stronger in the coming times.
2. Regarding relations with China, Asaduzzaman Khan said that India need not worry about China’s investment in Bangladesh. The relationship between India and Bangladesh cannot be compared. China is investing in our energy projects and infrastructure. This will not affect our relations with India. (India too wants China not to affect Bangladesh ! – Editor).
