New Delhi – In the wake of recent explosion near the Embassy of Israel in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi on 26th December 2023, the Israeli National Security Council issued an advisory for its citizens in India. It has advised Israeli citizens to avoid the crowded areas. No one was injured in this explosion. The Police have received a CCTV footage and identified 2 suspects.
1. A letter covered in the Israeli flag was also found at the site and it was addressed to the Israeli Ambassador (High Commissioner) who lives in the embassy. It read ‘Israel’s attack on Gaza’ and ‘revenge’. The letter criticises Israel’s operation in Gaza.
2. The Delhi Police did not find any explosives in this area. They got the information on phone about the explosion on 26th December. Soon after that, the Police and fire brigade reached the spot.
3. “We can confirm that around 5:20 PM, there was a blast in close proximity to the embassy. Our staff is safe. The Delhi Police and the security team are still investigating the situation,” said Guy Nir, Spokesperson of the Israeli Embassy.
4. In 2021 also, an explosion occurred at the same location. 3 vehicles were damaged in the blast. Israel had accused Iran for the explosion then.
