Restoration of ancient temples and preservation of weapons used in Chhatrapati Shivaji’s period
Mumbai, 24 th November – In 2023-24, on the occasion of ‘Amrut Mahotsav’ of our Independence, Government has budgeted Rs 90 crore for the maintenance and restoration of protected State monuments. Rs 48,51,03,022 have already been disbursed by the Government for a total of 17 various tasks, which will include possession and preservation of weapons from Shivaji Maharaj’s times, restoration of ancient temples, upgradation of State monuments etc.
The amount of Rs 4,46,76,284 is allocated for 13 State Museums. This amount will be used to preserve weapons from Shivaji Maharaj’s times and for State protected Monuments of Nanded, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Nasik, and Pune divisions of Survey of Archaeology. It will be utilised to put information placards, notice boards etc. Rs 50,14,550 has been provided to bring back Shivaji Maharaj’s “Waghnakh” (tiger metal claws) from England to Maharashtra. The State has made a separate provision of Rs 50 crore for the ceremony of Shivaji Maharaj’s Coronation. State Department for Tourism and Cultural affairs, has circulated Government order for these projects on 23 rd of November.
Restoration of Sangram Fort and Shivdi Fort
State Protected Buildings the Fort at Shivdi (Mumbai) and Sangram Gadh at Chakan (Khed) shall be repaired and renovated. Rs 8,96,4,811 have been allocated for renovation of the Shivdi Fort and Rs 2,83,26,321 allocated for that of Sangram Fort.

Funds for the restoration of ancient temples and renovation of ancient religious places have been allocated as below –

Babupeth Sri Mahadev Mandiir – Rs 1,55,86,081
Baramati (Pune) Loni Bhapkar, Shri Mahadev Mandir and Shri Datta Mandir – 2,51,50,996
Shri Muralidhar Mandir at Solapur district and Shri Sangmeshwar Mandir at Hattarsangkundal – Rs 1,43,01,810.
Protected monument Shri Kalbhairav Mandir – Rs 79,02,600
Teerthkund of district Dharashiv – Rs 5,11,66,203.
Government will take possession of 1,690 weapons used in Shivaji Maharaj’s times
A collection of 1,690 weapons of Shivaji Maharaj’s times by Late Girish Jadhav of Kolhapur will be acquired by the State Government for Rs 1,70,01,170. At present this responsibility is with Girish Jadhav’s son Dr Kuldeep Jadhav. Archaeological Department will protect and preserve this invaluable treasure.
