Actress Dia Mirza calls gifting during Diwali ‘generation of waste’

The Diwali celebrations were going on in full swing. However, Bollywood actress Dia Mirza got trolled for her posts on Diwali.

In one post, which now stands deleted, the actress in collaboration with Daily Dump Compost talked about the practice of giving and receiving gifts on Diwali. In a video, the actress said that she doesn’t want any gifts as the process of gifting also means a lot of wastage in terms of packaging.

She said, “This Diwali don’t give me anything. Please don’t give me gifts. I feel like during Diwali, we tend to give each other so many things that we don’t need. There is so much excessive packaging and so much waste we create. So this Diwali, don’t give me anything. Give me your time. Give me your support by segregating waste at home. The best gift you could give me this Diwali is supporting organisation that work for the health of the environment”. The video has now been deleted but the actress is still getting trolled.
