Islamic organisations will go to Court against the ban on Halal certification in Uttar Pradesh !

Lucknow (UP) – After the Uttar Pradesh Government banned Halal Certification, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind Halal Trust has decided to challenge this ban in Court. Trust secretary Niaz Ahmed said banning Halal-certified products is unfair. Such products are the choice of the individual and the product manufacturer. The Government should only look at whether these products are suitable for consumers. The Halal Certification process is as per the requirement of the manufacturers for the purpose of exports from India, as well as for the purpose of domestic distribution. (There is no question of any Indian manufacturer needing it. The Government itself should outright declare it. Otherwise, these people will force the system to be overturned to make them concede to their religious demands ! – Editor)

Global demand for Halal-certified products is high and it is mandatory for Indian establishments to obtain such certification. The Union Ministry of Commerce knows this well. (If this is the case, Halal Certification should be done only for exports. There is no demand for such certification within India. Even if such a demand is made, it should be strongly opposed. As of now, the Uttar Pradesh Government has banned Halal Certification only in the State. The Government has not objected to its export. – Editor) Consumers use Halal products and they should. Due to this, the country is benefiting financially.
