A day before Diwali, sale of 28 lakh liquor bottles

New Delhi – Details have emerged that as compared to the sale of alcohol in 2022, this year the sale in Diwali is doubled. According to the data of the Delhi Excise department, in the last 18 days, that is, before Diwali, 3.4 crore bottles of alcohol were sold costing Rs 525 crore. Around the same time last year, 2.11 crore bottles were sold before Diwali. This year, a day before Diwali, 28 lakh bottles of alcohol were sold. An officer of the Excise Department said that due to the festive season and ‘Dry day’ currently, the sale of alcohol has increased. October and November usually have a large number of ‘dry days’. Therefore, the average sale of liquor increases during this period.
