Surat (Gujarat) – Huge crowds at the Surat Railway Station resulted in a stampede. This resulted in 5 individuals falling unconscious, who were taken to hospital. One of them died, the other four are being treated. The dead person’s name was Virendra Singh and he was a resident of Chapra-Bihar. He was employed in Surat. The heavy crowd at Surat station was of passengers travelling to Bihar for Diwali and Chhath festival. There are very few trains to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar from here. This causes many difficulties every year for the travellers going to these places. (If this is a yearly happening, then why does the Railway Administration not arrange for more trains to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar ? – Editor)
