Tel Aviv (Israel) – French President Emmanuel Macron has urged Israel for a ceasefire. Speaking with the BBC, he said, “the killing of women and children in Gaza must stop now” but he has also affirmed that, “Israel has full right to defend itself”. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded by saying, “The responsibility for harming civilians lies with the Islamic State and Hamas, not with Israel.World leaders must condemn Hamas and not Israel”. Netanyahu also issued a warning, cautioning that the atrocities committed by Hamas in Gaza could potentially manifest in other global locations such as Paris, New York, and beyond.

All civilians must be protected. We must work towards a ceasefire and create the necessary space in Gaza for humanitarian actors.

Not 1,400, but 1,200 people died

Official information from Israel has revised the casualty count, stating that the death toll from Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7 is not 1,400 as previously reported but rather 1,200. Contrarily, the Israeli offensive in Gaza has resulted in the deaths of more than 11,000 individuals.

Israel forces besiege 3 hospitals in Gaza

The Israeli army has encircled Al-Shifa, Al-Quds and Indonesia hospitals on all four sides after the attack near Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza on November 10. Consequently, patients and staff are confined within the hospital premises. Ongoing clashes persist between Israel and Hamas. Beneath these hospitals is a Hamas military base, with Al-Shifa Hospital directly above the headquarters of Hamas’s intelligence department.

Reports have emerged stating that Roaa Haniyeh, the granddaughter of Hamas’s political bureau head Ismail Haniyeh, was killed in an airstrike in Gaza. However, the Israeli army has not confirmed this information.

Mahmoud Abbas ready to assume responsibility in Gaza

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has expressed readiness to take on responsibility in Gaza following the conflict. After the creation of Israel, the Palestinian Arab population settled in two main regions – the West Bank and Gaza. The West Bank is governed by the Palestinian Authority, while Gaza falls under the control of Hamas.Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has stated that he will not assume control of Gaza, but emphasized that he seeks to give Gaza a better future.

Editorial Perspective

Israel is setting before the world an example of how to root out Jihadi terrorism without showing any leniency. If India had adopted a similar approach, terrorist activities might have ceased within the country long ago.
