Guwahati (Assam) – The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that the drama ‘Janata Raja’ based on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj will be staged in Assam. On that basis, the biography of Assam’s great Hindu warrior Lachit Barphukan will also be known to the world in the form of such drama.

Sarma further said,

Just as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj repelled the Mughal invasion, Lachit Barphukan fought the Mughals. However, the introduction of Lachit’s history and prowess remained confined to Assam. (This is the tragedy of secular India. Please note that it is the Congress of Nehru which encouraged the culture of the West and Rajiv Gandhi who called Sanskrut a ‘dead language’ to prevent the future generations of India to learn the glorious history of India. – Editor)

A few days ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had advised that in order to introduce Barphukan’s biography to India, similar to the play ‘Janata Raja’ based on the biography of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, drama should be done on his biography. It is on this basis that ‘Janata Raja’ will be staged everywhere in Assam so that playwrights in Assam can get the experience of performing plays on the life of Lachit Barphukan.

Temple of Shri Kamakhya Devi to be built in Mumbai

Sarma said that since a large number of Assam citizens live in Maharashtra and mainly in Mumbai, a temple of Shri Kamakhya Devi will be constructed in Mumbai. Prospective land is being sought for this. I have discussed this with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and a decision will be taken soon. Along with this, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has also proposed to set up Maharashtra Sadan in Assam.
