London (UK) – After India asked 41 Canadian diplomats to leave the country, Canada recalled them. Britain has objected to India’s order on this matter. A spokesperson for the British Foreign Office said, ‘Resolving differences requires communication and diplomats in respective capitals. We do not agree with the decisions taken by the Indian Government that have resulted in a number of Canadian diplomats departing India. We expect all states to uphold their obligations under the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations (Vienna Convention has 52 articles and contains information on the rights and privileges of diplomatic officers). India should not ask Canadian diplomats to leave the country’.
