Complaints of potholes on the road can be now registered online

App will start functioning in Maharashtra from 1st November

Mumbai, 19th October (News) – Complaints about major roads in a State and District falling under the jurisdiction of the Public Works Department (PWD) can be now registered online. The PWD has set a goal to complete the repair work within 3-4 days. ‘Road Repair Grievance Redressal App’ will commence on 1st November in all Districts of Maharashtra.

Such complaints were being received for the roads constructed under the Prime Minister’s ‘Rural Road Scheme’ by the Centre earlier. This App is meant for road complaints at the State level for the first time.

  1. The App is a Pothole Complaint Redressal System (PCRS). Citizens will have to download this App to make their complaints. The App will only work for the roads of the PWD. The App will not accept complaints about the Municipal Corporation, Jilla Parishad or National Highways.
  2. On receipt of the complaint, a branch engineer of the local office of PWD will get the road repaired from the concerned contractor. If the contract with the contractor is over/terminated, PWD will the complete that respective repair work.
  3. Despite the complaint, if the branch engineer failed to repair the road, the officer at the Jilla level will take cognisance of that.
  4. The local office will report the complaint made on the App to the Ministry officials at the same time. Therefore, they will come to know, ‘On which day the complaint was entered, in how many days it was completed.
  5. Presently, a test is being conducted in various Districts of the State to see whether the complaint entered is being accepted by the App or not. It appears to have been successful.
