Violence is being supported under the garb of democracy in Canada

External Affairs Minister of India Dr S Jaishankar hits out at Canada

New York (USA) – India’s External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar has hit out at Canada during his visit to UN General Assembly. He said, ‘Our diplomats are intimidated and threatened in Canada. Our consulates are attacked. It is being justified by saying that it happens in a democracy. He further said, ‘In the last few years, Canada actually has seen a lot of organised crime relating to the secessionist forces, organised crime, violence, extremism. If somebody gives me something specific, it doesn’t have to be restricted to Canada, but if there is any incident which is an issue and somebody gives me something specific, as a Government I would look at it. Of course, I would look at it. He was speaking at a discussion at the Council on Foreign Relations.

Points mentioned by Dr S Jaishankar

We have actually been badgering the Canadians, we have given them a lot of information about organised crime leadership, which operates out of Canada. There are a large number of extradition requests. There are terrorist leaders who have been identified.

Regarding allegations of Nijjar’s murder, Jaishankar said, ‘We told the Canadians that this is not the Government of India’s policy. If you have something specific, if you have something relevant, let us know. We are open to looking at it. No action can be taken based on incomplete information. Canada has yet to present any evidence of Nijjar’s alleged murder’.

It is inappropriate to encourage terrorism in politics

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar while addressing the United Nations General Assembly on 26th September, said, ‘We must not countenance that political convenience determines responses to terrorism, extremism, and violence. He said this without naming Canada. Similarly, respect for territorial integrity and non-interference in internal affairs cannot be exercised in cherry-picking’.

‘We will not bend for anyone’s political gain’: Canada

Canada’s ambassador to the United Nations, Bob Rae, told the General Assembly that at a time when we value equality, we must uphold the values of a just and democratic society. We cannot bend the rules of state-to-state relations for political expediency. Democracy is seen to be under threat due to foreign interference. The truth is, if we do not follow the rules we agree on, the basic structure of our society will be affected. (The whole world is watching how Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has not only bent in front of Khalistanis for his own political gain but has completely surrendered to them. Owing to this, it is ridiculous for Canada to make such statements! – Editor)
