New York (USA) – Pakistan’s caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar raised the issue of Kashmir in the United Nations General Assembly. India hit back at him saying, ‘Pakistan should take action against its terrorism and stop promoting cross-border terrorism. It must stop the violation of human rights of the minorities and vacate illegally occupied Indian land (i.e. Pak Occupied Kashmir). In addition, action should be taken against the perpetrators of the 26/11 Mumbai attack’.

Responding to Kakar, Petal Gahlot, India’s first secretary at the UN for the second committee of UNGA, said, ‘Pakistan has become a habitual offender when it comes to misusing this forum to peddle baseless and malicious propaganda against India. India has repeatedly told Pakistan to end terrorism in its country first’.

Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan, while addressing the United Nations General Assembly said ‘We want peaceful relations with all our neighbours. Kashmir is the key to peace between India and Pakistan and development depends on peace. India has not complied with the General Assembly resolution, under which the final decision on Kashmir is to be taken by a referendum in Jammu and Kashmir under the supervision of the UN Military Observer Group for India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP). Since August 2019, India has deployed an estimated 9,00,000 soldiers in the illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, so that it can impose its own decisions on Kashmir’.
