Bandipora, Kashmir – In a coordinated operation by Jammu-Kashmir Police, Assam Rifles, and Central Reserved Police Force, a significant breakthrough was achieved in the fight against terrorism. Shafayat Zuber, a known terrorist, and Munira Begum, his associate, were apprehended. The operation revealed links to Pakistan, with Zuber receiving 47 lakh rupees to fund terrorism.
Confiscated items included a pistol, pistol magazine, bullets, and more from Zuber. Zuber’s history includes a year 2000 bomb attack that killed 12 Policemen and 14 civilians, and an incident in 2009 involving an army vehicle set on fire. Notably, Zuber had secured bail in the latter case.
Zuber revealed sourcing weapons from Munira Begum, widow of deceased terrorist Yusuf Chaupan. Munira possessed an AK-47 rifle, magazines, bullets, and a pen pistol. Her two trips to Pakistan while the investigation was going on raised suspicions of external support.
