Administration withdraws notice about noise pollution of Aarti given to temple in Chhatarpur (MP)

People alleged that the notice was given because there are bungalows of Government officials near the temple

Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh) – Priests of the Narasimha temple here were issued a notice by Divisional officers for alleged noise pollution caused by Bhajan and Aarti. However, after some time that notice was withdrawn. The notice was criticised by devout Hindus after it was posted on social media before being withdrawn. People are saying that, bungalows of Chief Executive Officer of District Panchayat and Collector are located near this temple. The notice was issued because they were disturbed by the sound of Aarti. The notice was later withdrawn when it was realised that it might lead to controversy.

In this case, Divisional Officer Balveer Raman said that, “we issued a written notice after receiving a verbal complaint. Now the notice has been withdrawn as sound of Aarti has been lowered.” (The administrative officers need to answer how many verbal complaints have so far been promptly acted upon by them especially when they always ask public for a written complaint for everything – Editor)

Editorial Viewpoints

  • Will the administration that issues notice to the temple for alleged noise pollution ever issue a notice for the noise pollution caused 5 times daily due to loudspeakers on the mosques ?
  • Hindus do not expect such actions from administration in a BJP-ruled State.
