CM Eknath Shinde and ‘Varkari’ performing Shri Vitthal puja on behalf of the Government
Pandharpur (Dist Solapur, Maharashtra), 29th June – Chief Minister Eknath Shinde performed puja on the day of ‘Ashadhi Ekadashi’ and especially prayed to Shri Vitthal for the welfare of farmers, good monsoon, for the prosperity of the State and for the happiness of every constituent of the society. On the occasion of ‘Ashadhi Ekadashi’, CM Eknath Shinde, accompanied by his wife, Lata Shinde, and a Varkari couple Bhausaheb Kale and Mangal Kale performed the ‘Mahapuja’ at Shri Vitthal-Rukmini Temple. After the ‘Mahapuja’, there was the felicitation programme of ‘Varkari’ on behalf of Shri Vitthal-Rukmini Mandir. Cm addressed the gathering on this occasion.
Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, the Minister of Revenue, Animal Husbandry, and Dairy Development Departments; Professor Dr Tanaji Sawant, Public Health Minister; Girish Mahajan, Minister of Rural Development and Medical Education Departments; Deepak Kesarkar, School Education Department; Gahininath Maharaj Ausekar, Joint President of Temple Committee attended the programme.

CM Shinde said, “The whole Pandharpur and surroundings are drowned in the devotion of Lord Pandurang. The Government has given priority to the health of ‘Varkari’ during this ‘Ashadhi’ pilgrimage. Mega health camps have been organised at three places here. Serving the devotees in these camps is like performing puja of Shri Vitthal.”
Development plan of Pandharpur will be prepared by taking everyone into confidence ! – CM
Rs 108 Crores have been sanctioned for the works required to be done by Pandharpur Town Council and Rs 109 Crores for water supply to this town. Rs 73 Crores have been approved for the development of the temple area and premises. The development plan of Pandharpur will be drafted only after taking everyone into confidence, promised CM Eknath Shinde. He considered himself fortunate for getting an opportunity to perform Puja on behalf of the Government for two years consecutively.
