Junagadh (Gujarat) – More than 300 fanatical Muslims resorted to violence here on the night of 15th June after the Municipal Corporation issued a notice against the unauthorised construction of a dargah. They targeted the Police station in which 4 Policemen including Deputy Superintendent of Police were injured. Police vehicles were vandalised and other vehicles were also burnt. The city buses passing by were also attacked with stones injuring some passengers. The fanatical Muslims were shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ (‘Allah is great’) while attacking. The Police burst tear gas to disperse them. One person died in the violence. So far, 174 people have been arrested in connection with the violence. Videos of the incident of violence went viral on social media.

The administration gave a 5 days time limit to remove the dargah. There was no response to the notice. After that, the administration decided to take action. On the evening of 16th June, when the Municipal Corporation team arrived to post a notice to demolish the Dargah, 300+ fanatical Muslims gathered to oppose.
