Accused of disrespecting the Masjid-e-Nabawi (Medina)

Srinagar (J&K) – Srinagar’s mayor Junaid Azim Mattu has tweeted that, Farooq Abdullah, the head of ‘National Conference’, is an apostate to Islam. Mattu has tweeted a picture wherein a Nataraj Idol is seen on the table behind Abdullah. A picture of Medina’s Masjid-e-Nabawi is also seen on the same table. Mattu has criticised Abdullah for keeping a Hindu Deity’s Idol at his house.

On 12th May, Farooq Abdullah had appealed to the Kashmiri Muslim youth through a website and said, ‘Every Kashmiri wants back the special status to the Jammu and Kashmir State’. He accused the Union Government for increased unemployment and disorder within the State. He appealed to the youth to follow Islamic teachings. Mattu called this gesture of Abdullah a ‘drama’ and called him ‘murtadd’ (an apostate of Islam).
