State Assembly Elections in 3 North-Eastern Indian States

New Delhi – In the three north-eastern Indian States, viz. Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tripura, State Assembly elections were recently held and the counting of votes was going on till late evening of the 2nd of March 2023. BJP is successful in maintaining power in Tripura and Nagaland. BJP has won with a majority in Tripura. In Nagaland, the coalition of the National Democratic Progressive Party and BJP has won 19 seats, and they are leading in 17 constituencies; therefore, their win is certain. Although the National People’s Party has won the highest seats, in Meghalaya, it has not won majority seats leading to a hung position.

BJP has won 31 seats in Tripura, the majority, whereas Communist Party (Marxists) and Tipra Motha Party are leading in 11 constituencies.
