BJP retains power in Tripura and Nagaland, while it is hung position in Meghalaya !

State Assembly Elections in 3 North-Eastern Indian States

New Delhi – In the three north-eastern Indian States, viz. Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tripura, State Assembly elections were recently held and the counting of votes was going on till late evening of the 2^nd of March 2023. BJP is successful in maintaining power in Tripura and Nagaland. BJP has won with a majority in Tripura. In Nagaland, the coalition of the National Democratic Progressive Party and BJP has won 19 seats, and they are leading in 17 constituencies; therefore, their win is certain. Although the National People’s Party has won the highest seats, in Meghalaya, it has not won majority seats leading to a hung position.

BJP has won 31 seats in Tripura, the majority, whereas Communist Party (Marxists) and Tipra Motha Party are leading in 11 constituencies.
