Aligarh (UP) – BJP leader Ruby Khan has installed an Idol of Shri Ganesh on the occasion of Shri Ganesh Chaturthi. So, Darul Uloom Deoband’s Mufti (Shariat Law Scholar) Arshad Farooqui has issued a fatwa against Khan. Farooqui has said that installing an Idol in the house is anti-Islamic. Hindus revere Shri Ganesh. He is called the God of learning and grants happiness and prosperity. Islam forbids Idol worship. In Islam, none except Allah is worshipped. Those who do so will be anti-Islamic.

I always celebrate Hindu festivals and will continue to do so – Ruby Khan
Ruby Khan has opposed this fatwa. She said those who issue such fatwas want to divide the country. This country belongs to everyone. Hindus and Muslims want to live together here. I am not concerned with any such fatwa. True Muslims do not issue such fatwas.
Such fatwas are issued against me. Muftis (scholars of Shariah law) and maulvis (religious leaders of Islam) who think like this are jihadi-minded fanatics who want division. Living in this country, they do not think about the good of this country. I always celebrate Hindu festivals and will continue to do so.
