Ram Mandir Donation Scam : ₹10 Lakh recovered from the home of a Shri Ram Temple employee; cash hidden beneath a cow-dung heap

Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh) – In connection with allegations that funds from the donation boxes of the Shri Ram Temple were stolen, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) detained and questioned temple employee Lavkush Mishra. During the investigation, officials recovered approximately ₹10 lakh from his residence. According to investigators, he had hidden some cash in a cupboard and beneath a heap of cow dung. Mishra is employed in the temple’s donation-counting department and is a resident of Phagauli village in the Meenapur area.

Following allegations by opposition parties regarding the disappearance of donation-box funds, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust requested Yogi Adityanath to order a Special Investigation Team inquiry into the matter. The Chief Minister constituted an SIT within hours of receiving the request, and Mishra was taken into custody the same day. Investigators have also revealed that another temple employee is under scrutiny in connection with the case. Like Mishra, he too was individual had the responsibility of counting donations received by the temple.

Land worth ₹1.5 crore purchased despite a monthly salary of ₹18,000!

According to investigators, both employees under suspicion, receive monthly salaries ranging between ₹18,000 and ₹20,000. However, a sudden increase in their assets over recent months has prompted further inquiry into the source of their income. It has been revealed that one employee purchased land worth nearly ₹1.5 crore, while the other acquired a new apartment valued at approximately ₹40 lakh.

Mishra’s father, Bachchu Lal, has maintained that his son is innocent. He stated that the recovered money had been raised by mortgaging ancestral land to finance the construction of the house.
