
Sriharikota (Andhra Pradesh) – Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched a ‘Small Satellite Launch Vehicle Developmental Flight -1 (SSLV- D1) from Satish Dhawan Space Centre. Along with this, ‘Pruthvi’ satellite and ‘Azadi SAT’, a satellite built by the students were also launched; but after their successful launching, it has been found difficult to have contact with them. Rs 56 crore was spent on this project.

India is going to celebrate its 75th Independence Day and to mark this special occasion, 750 girl students from 75 schools across the country built the satellite named ‘Azadi SAT’ that weighed only 8 kg. It has a solar panel and selfie camera.
