New Delhi – Soon after completing the corona vaccination campaign Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) will be implemented, announced Central Home Minister Amit Shah. Suvendu Adhikari, leader of the opposition in the Bengal Legislative Assembly informed that Amit Shah had given this assurance when he had met him. The Act was passed in Parliament on 11th December 2019 and the notification was issued on the next day. The regulations related to that Act have not been framed by the Centre yet. Despite opposition from many opposite parties to CAA, Amit Shah announced that it will be implemented.

What is this CAA ?
The Act assures Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist Jain, Parsi and Christian settling in India till 31st December 2014 due to unbearable religious persecution in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh will not be considered illegal migrants and they will be given Indian citizenship. However, Tamilians from Sri Lanka, Muslims from Mynamar and other communities of Muslims in Pakistan will not get the benefit of this Act.
