In March 2021, the authorities in Lukarganj, Prayagraj, demolished the homes of a professor, a lawyer, and three others. The petitioners argued that their houses were wrongfully demolished by the administration on the suspicion that they were associated with gangster Atiq Ahmed.
The Allahabad High Court had upheld the demolition, following which the petitioners challenged the decision in the Supreme Court.
