Christian Priest Bajinder Singh sentenced to life imprisonment in rape case

Judgement delivered after 7 years

Pastor Bajinder Singh

Mohali (Punjab) – Christian priest Bajinder Singh has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a Mohali Court in a rape case. The incident, which occurred in 2018, saw a verdict delivered on 28 March, with sentencing pronounced on 1 April. Recently, another woman had also filed a molestation case against Bajinder Singh.

In the case for which he was convicted, the victim stated that Bajinder lured her to his home on the pretext of helping her settle abroad, where he then raped her. He also recorded the act on video and threatened to release it if she spoke out.

The victim further claimed that many other women had similarly been exploited by Bajinder Singh.

In a bid to evade punishment, Bajinder pleaded before the Court, saying, “My children are young, my wife is ill, and I have metal rods in my leg. Please show mercy.” However, the Court rejected his plea and handed down a life sentence.

Editorial Perspectives

  • The term ‘Christian priest’ now appears synonymous with lustful conduct. While hundreds of cases of sexual abuse by priests—of women and minors—have been reported for decades abroad, incidents like this reveal that the same pattern now exists in India as well.
  • Justice after 7 years is no justice at all. In the Hindu Rashtra, justice will be swift and decisive.
  • Please note how the media, which sensationalises false allegations against Hindu Saints and relentlessly defames them, avoids calling this priest’s heinous crime a ‘breaking news’ and refrains from holding debates. This selective silence must be exposed.
