Victim’s parents allege it to be a case of ‘Love Jihad’

Udupi (Karnataka) – A new case of ‘Love Jihad’ has surfaced in Udupi, Karnataka. Mohammad Akram, a resident of Karamballi in Udupi, recently kidnapped a young woman named Jina. The accused, a Muslim youth, is allegedly trying to forcibly marry the victim. The victim’s father has lodged a complaint with the police, claiming that this abduction is part of a ‘Love Jihad’ conspiracy. The police have registered a case against the accused.
1. Jina, daughter of Godwin Devdas and Merus Puspalata from Kodavoor, Udupi, was returning home from college when she was forcibly taken off a bus at Kuttikatte and kidnapped by Mohammad Akram.
2. Jina and Akram had first met on Instagram when she was in the ninth grade. At that time, a case had been registered against Akram under the POCSO Act. The victim’s parents allege that Akram has been seeking revenge ever since.
3. The victim’s parents claim that the police refused to take action, stating that both individuals are adults.
4. The victim’s family has urged the Home Minister to take the accused into custody and investigate the larger conspiracy behind this incident.
