
Azamgarh (UP) – Four persons, including the jail superintendent, have been suspended in connection with the supply of mobile phones, television sets and marijuana to the prisoners in the Azamgarh Jail. They are identified as Ravindra Saroj, Sridhar Yadav, Ajay Verma and Ashutosh Singh.

Director General of Prisons Anand Kumar said that on 26th July, Azamgarh Collector Vishal Bhardwaj and Superintendent of Police Anurag Arya raided the prison. At that time, 12 mobile phones, chargers and some other objectionable materials were found in the barracks of the prisoners. When the jail authorities were asked in this regard, they could not give a satisfactory response.
