New Delhi – Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Choudhury paid tribute to late PM Rajiv Gandhi on his death anniversary with a tweet. The tweet said, “whenever a big tree falls, the earth shakes”.

The tweet was later deleted. Choudhury clarified after netizens started trolling him. The clarification said that the expressed thoughts do not belong to him and it was an effort to defame him by hacking his Twitter account.

The unfortunate Sikh genocide was a reaction to the late PM Indira Gandhi’s assassination. Rajiv Gandhi tried to justify the genocide by saying, ‘Jab bhi koi bada ped girta hai, toh dharti thodi hilti hai (Whenever a big tree falls, the earth shakes). I am aware of the anger in the people.’ Rajiv Gandhi faced flak over his statement.
