
Bengaluru (Karnataka) – Karnataka Government has passed an order banning the hijab in schools for minorities. The girls studying in Maulana Azad Model English medium schools and the schools managed by Minority Welfare Department are not allowed to wear hijab. Earlier schoolgirls in Government schools and colleges were not allowed to wear hijab.

The order of the Karnataka High Court applies to all residential schools, colleges including Maulana Azad Model English medium schools. Maulana Azad Model English medium schools and schools managed by Minority Welfare Department are restricted from wearing the saffron colour shawl, scarf and hijab.
